Comcast to add MavTV, including HD version

MavTV whose slogan is "created by men for men" confirmed today that they signed an affiliation agreement with Comcast Corp.

"We are extremely pleased to have signed an affiliation agreement with the largest distributor in the world," said MavTV COO Steve Smith in a statement. "This agreement supports our goal of becoming one of the premiere male-oriented cable television networks."

Deal terms and launch plans were not disclosed, however both the SD and HD feeds will be carried by Comcast.  Launch date has yet to be determined.

The network counts some 7 million subscribers in the U.S. via carriage pacts with Charter Communications, Verizon's FiOS and Cablevision Systems Corp., among others.  It also has distribution pacts currently reaching 1 million customers in Canada and 9 million in the U.K

Mav TV is a digital cable channel, focused towards men in the 18-54 age group. It features original programming that appeal to men, such as sports, comedies, gadgets, gaming, and women.

Original series on MavTV include: American Tailgater, AMA Motorcycle Racing, Whole World Theatre, Mini Cooper Auto Racing, Regional Wrestling Events, Ultimate Combat Experience, Bikini AllStars and Best of the Best. In addition, MavTV presents documentaries slanted only towards men, entitled Manumentaries.

The channel does not have any connections to Mark Cuban, owner of the similarly-named Dallas Mavericks NBA basketball team.
